Norway Oil Fund
About Norway Oil Fund
The Government Pension Fund Global, commonly called the Norwegian Oil Fund, was established in 1990 to invest surplus oil revenues. It is the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world, managing over 1.7 trillion. The fund owns about 1.5 percent of all listed equities globally. It invests in over 9,000 companies across 70 countries. The fund has strict ethical guidelines, excluding companies involved in nuclear weapons, tobacco, and serious environmental damage. The fund provides for Norways future without spending oil wealth immediately. It is widely admired as a model of responsible resource wealth management.
